What to work on at Home
Our letter of this week this month is Z (May 9-13). We will discuss what sound it makes, how to write the letter, and different objects that begin with the letter. Any extra practice with the letters that you can do will be beneficial. One suggestion I would make is to go on a "Letter Hunt" at home with you child. Let them search through the house to find the letter in as many places as they can. It's a fun way for them to work on their letter recognition!
Some things that I suggest for all the children to work on at home are:
- Counting: We work on this skill a lot during calendar and center time, but any extra practice is great. We are practicing a new number every week!
- Letter recognition and writing: We will be learning a new letter every week, we will learn what sound it makes, objects that begin with the letter, as well as how to write the letters. This is something that you can reinforce at home as well.
- Taking turns, sharing, etc...- These are skills that all children need loads of practice with, but by pointing out and praising the skills when they are done well, we will help children associate a positive attitude with the skills.
***Below is a list of different websites that have fun learning games and also printable worksheets to give you some ideas of things that you can work on at home with your child.
